Signs of Life is seeking articles on any aspect of philosophy, politics, or culture that breaks down form, style, and themes in traditional writing and journalism. Our content dives deeper than surface-level outlines of common ontological, epistemological, or metaphysical thought. Instead, we seek the discussion of outrageous subjects and topical events through the unrelenting pursuit of creative and critical thought.
We want to hear from you if you either agree with or hate everything that Slavoj Žižek has ever written, you have a burning desire to run modern doomsday prepper culture through Hegelian dialectics, or you have an original philosophical theory that can explain the rise of anti-intellectualism running rampant through the world.
No topic is too far for us. We are especially interested in accepting submissions that push boundaries, discuss far-reaching issues, and delve deep into otherwise untraversed places or personal issues that resonate with you.
Simultaneous submissions are strongly encouraged. Please let us know if your work is accepted elsewhere.
Absolutely no AI - Only original content will be accepted.
For pitches, feel free to submit three different subjects at a time. Include the thesis of the piece, a few sentences of information, and the length of time that it will take to complete.
Complete submissions should be formatted in a way that is easy to read. We recommend the piece in the body of an email or in a Google doc in 12-point Times New Roman with double spacing. Only one complete submission will be accepted per reading period. Include a brief thesis and description in the submission of all completed pieces.
Completed essays and articles should be at most 3,000 words.
Signs of Life pays $25 per accepted piece.
The rights Signs of Life would assume are First Serial Rights and Worldwide Electronic Rights.
Signs of Life does not accept any hate speech or writing that promotes any sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, or transphobic rhetoric.
